A BIRTH STORY: #MYLITTLEBOY

so i went for my prenatal checkup on saturday 4th March 2017 and doctor told me i was already 2-3cm dilated. if his estimation was accurate, i will deliver on 6th March.

that moment, my heart almost stopped. finally, the 9 months of waiting and anticipation will almost be over. while hb happily skipped like a rabbit to the payment counter to make the last payment, i sat on the nearby couch with a blank mind.

...

so the doctor was accurate. what a pro he was. on 5th march (sun) i had the so-called bloody show, which simply means i am ready for delivery.

my parents dropped hb and i off in the hospital and we walked to the delivery suite. i was really nervous, so was hb. admission papers were done few days back, so everything was fast.

the nurse ushered us to the delivery suite and buckle me up with needles and tubes at 315am. then at 345am, epidural was injected. while friends told me the injection was painful, i felt none. it was basically painless. thank god. while the doctor administer the epidural, doctor asked hb if he is ok to stay to see or he wants to go out to get some coffee, he chose to stay. another thank god. even though i knew there was nothing he can do, but his presence makes me less tense.

400am, catheter was insert.

418am, a kind of drip to make the contraction quicken was put in.

i drifted off sleepily after that, but was woken up with painful contractions an hour later. i endured, because i felt this is what labour and mother is supposed to be. sweats were dripping down uncontrollably when the pain intensify more. from every 5 mins once, to a shorter interval of pain. the pain was at the lower abdominal, then slowly the lower back pain started as well. i have to call out to the sleepy husband, holding and squeezing his hand very tightly.

i weaken entirely. i knew if the pain continues, there will be no way i can push the baby out later. most of my energy already used up from enduring the contraction pain. i have to finally called the anaesthetic doctor to give me more doses.

11am, i was told that i am 10cm dilated and all ready to practice the pushing. however, as this is my 1st baby, the nurse wanted to wait longer for the baby to move towards the birth canal more before i start the pushing.

12 noon, pushing begins.

1300-1400hrs, baby out.

the only regret i have is i never get a chance to see my baby boy 1st reaction or face because i was so tired that i couldnt even lifted my eye lid. i didnt really get to hold him till i started breastfeeding him.

family and friends asked if i will do it again? i simply told them ... who knows. but if i ever did tried the second time, kkh will definitely be my first choice.
